The full Itinerary
On day one will meet you in Barcelona and shuttle you up to Girona. Arriving at your accommodation, we will have a quick lunch prepared for you before heading down to The Service Course where your locker with your new kit and swag pack will be waiting. Your bike will be ready to go and after any minor adjustments, we are off for a quick spin around Canet D´Adri. After a shower, we will head off for a welcome drink before dinner.
30km, 466m climbing
On day two you will start off with a gourmet breakfast at La Fabrica. Don't worry, you will get to try everything on the menu before the end of the week, as you will be breakfasting here daily! Then we will roll out of town before hitting the lower slopes of Els Angels, a gentle 11 kilometre climb leading to the church where famous Spanish artist, Salvador Dali was married. We will take a quick look at the views with mountains to one side and the Med to the other then descend down the other side, where we will shortly be on Santa Pellaia (another gentle 6km climb) before descending and taking some beautiful farm roads back into Girona. Another stop at La Fabrica for lunch and back to shower up and enjoy the siesta. Stroll down to Espresso Mafia anytime for a little pick-me-up before dinner in the evening.
70km, 1157m climbing
After another solid breakfast we will set off for a shop favourite. Heading out of town, we’ll encounter some gentle climbing and descending before the day’s main obstacle, affectionately known as the Moustache Climb. After heading up to some spectacular views at the reservoir of Susqueda, we start the Moustache with its spicy gradients for the first kilometre. After a short flat section to recover, the rest of the climb is slightly more forgiving. We will climb all the way to the top of the Col de Nafre where we can take in the scenery of the valley before we head back down and ride home via one last gentle climb.
94km, 1581m climbing
It may not be the queen stage of the tour but it is the jewel in the crown! Heading out of Girona, we will ride towards Llagostera, where we will start the climb up to St. Grau–a long and gradual climb that takes us to well above the Mediterranean–however it's not until we start the descent that the views open up to the coast and the beautiful turquoise water of the Costa Brava. A left at the bottom takes us along one of the most spectacular coastal roads you will ever ride, winding up and down with scenic views of the Mediterranean the entire way. The coast road will lead us to S´Agaro where we will stop for lunch at the beach. After a quick swim, we transfer back to Girona.
57km, 1017m climbing
Heading north from Girona, we will ride uphill towards the farthest point of the day: the town of Olot. After a quick coffee stop, we will continue uphill through the Garrotxa volcanic region before heading downhill all the way home through Banyoles and past the base of the infamous Rocacorba climb…any takers?
117km, 1772m climbing
Our last day takes us to Banyoles where you can find the lake that hosted the rowing events in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. We will cruise along, share war stories of the past week, stop at the lake for a coffee, and t in the views before rolling back into town for lunch. Enjoy a lazy afternoon and maybe pack a few things before our farewell dinner.
48km, 684m climbing
Sadly we say our goodbyes and get you back to Barcelona to catch your flight home, though we don't really believe in “goodbye”s, just “see you next time”s. (Optional AM spin if you have an afternoon transfer).
Total distance: 416km
