A TRIP TO THE COAST
Five riders, different goals but the same destination.
Thank you to Seamus, Maxime, Hannah, Joergen and Soeren for a great day out on the bike.
There are many reason people join us in Girona. Some are searching to push their training to the next level, some are looking to relax, see the sights by bike and discover Catalunya, others may look to make new memories with their best friends. This week was a combination of all three. Hannah has been training for an epic riding challenge in Sweden, Maxime for one of the toughest challenges in France with an impressive amount of elevation, Joergen and Soeren, two best friends who are returning friends of The Service Course and Seamus was joining us on a Grand Tour experience.
It had been raining two days straight. The clouds had passed but could still be seen over the mountains. It wasn't cold, but there was a slight chill in the air. The plan was to make it to the coast and to the coast we headed. arm warmers and waterproof jackets packed into the pack of the car just in case the heavens decided to open along the way. The ride was full supported by Amber, Kosar and Christian's mum and dad. Christian was leading the ride and keeping the riders motivated. 'It's sunnier in Denmark right now!' Joergen shouted. But regardless of the weather, the roads were smooth, lined with spring flowers and flourishing trees. There was a distinct smell of damp earth and rain in the air.
The coast loop is a Girona classic. In fact, we made it the base design for the shop - next time you're in, take a closer look at the outline of the grey display wall, it's the profile of the Coast loop. The loop is rolling, with some tough little peaks to keep you powering through. Though, you may not notice the pain, you'll be too busy admiring the views. The roads are smooth and ridden in Spring, cars are a rare sight. As this is a 'must do' route in Girona, you may find yourself merging into a group of other cyclists, or passing them as they make their way home (don't forget to say a quick hello when you do!).
You may wonder why Girona is becoming the place for cyclists to be. Is it the food? Is it the roads? The influence of pro riders? Well, there will always be many different reasons that brings riders here. But no matter your ability or reason to ride, you arrive in Girona as a guest and leave as a friend. So come ride with us, rain or shine, visit the shop, ask us questions or watch the racing on TV with us. It's your home away from home, your one stop for all of your cycling needs in Girona.
